Hello all, I am Wee Kwan from SoC Computer Science currently in my year 2 in NUS. Basically, I like to read on current affairs and technologies, eat good food and play good games. Sorry for the brief introduction! Let me go straight into the main topic for today, the golden question to kick start the exciting journey in this module ahead! - What I hope to learn in CS3216.
The first thing that I hope to learn in CS3216 is to better my programming skills. Ever since I entered NUS Comp Sci, I realized that the skills the lecturers taught in NUS is so much different from my polytechnic days, a lot tougher too. A little bit into my history, I came from NYP from a course where I am equipped with various multimedia, programming and networking skills. To me, this course is quite diverse in the teachings of skills and not very focused in a particular skills. Moreover, I specialized in networking in my final year. Fast forward to present, I am working hard to improve on my programming skills so as not to lose out from my fellow course mates. By entering into this challenging yet exciting module, I thank you, Prof Ben, for this opportunity to further challenge and improve myself.
Secondly, I hope to learn how to develop for Facebook and iOS platforms. With this 2 currently very popular platforms that many of my friends and families are embracing, I hope to play a part in developing useful apps that can improve their lifestyle overall and also bring more fun to them at the same time. At the same time, being a Comp Sci student, I know these programming skills are utmost essential in the real world and being equipped with them is the REAL deal!
Last but not least, I hope to learn to challenge myself further to work and learn independently and also to integrate better into working in teams made up of different people with different walks of life. I know this is by far one of the most important skill, to be able to work alone and with others, and I am sure that CS3216 is definitely the ground for me to upgrade myself further to a whole new level.
Learning is a lifelong process and it takes place almost everyday in our lives. My list of hope-to-learn can go on and on as long as I can think of any but I priced the above 3 as my top priorities (in random order) in this module. The road ahead will be rocky for sure, but I hope I will endure with perseverance positively and level up! =D
